Joyce Elliott, the former state representative and teacher known for straight-shooting and progressive stands on social issues, will announce at 5:30 p.m. today at the state Capitol that she’ll run from District 33 for the state Senate. The incumbent, Irma Hunter Brown, has already announced her intention to run for re-election.
