Just a follow-up on the Purple Cow Incident on Cantrell yesterday... I had a few emails and a phone call with Al Harrison about the incident yesterday. He was very professional, and seemed to be frustrated about the situation. He promised me to go to the store and discuss this in person. I am VERY impressed with the response I have received from Al (and Todd Gold) and I have the impression that they're "good folks" as my grandpa would say. So... next time I'm going to Best Buy on Chenal, I plan to stop by and grab a shake. Of course I'm going to watch them make it (grin) but I intend to give the company another shot. Anticipating any questions, no I was not offered any freebies from them... and that also makes me think they're "good folks." It's easy to offer a freebie to apologize... but these guys are taking it honestly and openly, and I think they're honestly going to fix it. And my wife had a chemo session today... just one more to go... just one more to go...

Pace yourselves, folks. Today the dear sweet sainted wife turned to go down another aisle at Belk’s and found a woman sprawled out face down on the floor. She hollered for help, then got down in the floor and asked the woman if she needed an ambulance. A few seconds later, the lady whispered, “No, but please call my husband.” Which store personnel promptly did. Much worse, a fellow noontime pickups regular at the LRAC collapsed on the basketball court last week and died despite immediate CPR by other players and staff. 53-years-old, a perfect physical specimen, and, we thought, in perfect health. The shock is just now beginning to wear off. One never knows what is lurking within, as we learned with own dear jazzy. All the best to your bride and you, Slingerland.

Son sent me a story about a new beer soon to come out in Germany/Austria which has created quite a brew-haha. Max's comment was that they'd never sell it in Arkieland. Click on name & you'll understand why.

I've changed my meditation philosophy. I no longer try to empty my mind to concentrate on a visualization. That was Zen; this is Tao.

Rumor-mongering, then and now: "Over at Salon, J.L. Bell relates how as a subscriber to Snopes' updates, he thought he was discerning a pattern in the way he seemed to be seeing "a lot more rumors about President Obama, and a lot more false rumors." So, Bell dug deep into the archives to do a comparative analysis of the rumor-mongering of the still-young Obama presidency and the two terms of his predecessor. The results: "After eight years in the White House (with Snopes.com around all that time), George W. Bush has been the subject of 47 internet rumors. After less than two years in office, Barack Obama has been the subject of 87, or nearly twice as many. Even more telling is the relative accuracy of those stories. For Bush, 20 rumors, or 43%, are true. Only 17, or 36%, are false. The remainder are of mixed veracity (4), undetermined (4), or unclassifiable (2). In contrast, for Obama only 8 of the 87 rumors, or 9%, are true, and a whopping 59, or 68%, are whoppers. There are 17 of mixed veracity and 3 undetermined. HufPo on the link-

This is a crying shame--- By ANNA M TINSLEY atinsley@star-telegram.com Ticket prices are dropping for the Friday night gala that features a VIP gathering and speech by former GOP vice presidential nominee Sarah Palin. Instead of $1,000, attendees can now pay $250 for one ticket to the 7 p.m. dinner Friday where the former Alaska governor will speak at the Fairmont Hotel in Dallas. Tickets for two to the VIP reception and dinner, once priced at $25,000, now cost $2,000 (and now include six non-VIP dinner tickets and a photo with Palin). Ticket sales end at 5 p.m. Tuesday. Organizers say "ticket sales have been reduced to offer a greater number of people an opportunity to attend."

Any*mouse, that's artist Roller Wilson's home out the window and across the street, a very distinctive home with his Kansas farm heritage in the design. The street is West Mountain. I once had a home on W. Mountain with a wrap around veranda. My old place is now a paved city parking lot since the mid 70s. Wilson home is next door to Gaylord's Mountain Cafe. Using google maps scan across the street from 315 West Mountain Street, Fayetteville, AR

Visualize the sound of one hand clapping. The right’s use secrecy & disinformation in combination with code words & symbolism is both neurotic and well documented. Very interesting, CatmanDo. Think people may be getting a little tiny bit fed up with Palin and her nonsense? Or just resentful that the quitter from Alaska is getting rich because she doesn't care about this country, only her own pocketbook?

The story at the clicky got me to thinking about my golden-retriever mix. Gosh, what if my dog were gay? I'd obviously be crestfallen but I've seen the signs. Was it something I did? Did that throw-and-fetch game instill some kind of L vibe in her? I did notice that she growled at boy dogs at any early age. I had her fixed at 6 months and she's very territorial but that's beside the point. She's almost 13 now but I was thinking that I could send her to one of those "Pray the Gay Away'' camps. Do they have those for dogs? We all know gay dogs don't go to Doggie Heaven so I was hoping that a GOP Congressional candidate could give me some guidance about my potentially-gay dog. (I say 'potentially' because I'm in denial. Between us, I think she's full-blown gay). This is one of those times I'm sad Laurie Masterson no longer contributes to the blog. I'm sure she could point me in the right direction. Signed, Forlorn in Hillcrest

Dear Forlorn in Hillcrest, I suggest you contact Ted Haggard. Having been on both sides of that issue, he can surely give you the answers you seek, and if necessary, perform the appropriate de-gaying of your beloved animal. Also, I understand that Larry Craig isn't doing much these days. He could perhaps call a press conference to announce, "this dog is not gay...never has been gay'. Failing all that, take your wonderful, flamboyantly gay dog and y'all just go on out for some Thai food.

Hey Kat. Read your review about Say's. #1 son went down there to eat last week and came home with rave reviews. I decided to cook up a mess of baby back ribs this weekend and the Mrs. decided to run by Say's and pick up beans and potato salad. The best I have ever had! Thanks for the review!

That house on Mountain Street across from Roller Wilson's place was once the Mountain Street Laundry. The architect said that he walled in the former parking lot out front to create a more private back yard (although in front of the residence), and put the more public "front" yard on a balcony over the "back" yard. I've never been inside the wall, but it seems to work.
