Ain't no sunshine for Mike Huckabee

Posted by Max Brantley on Mon, Jul 26, 2010 at 12:51 PM

Mike Huckabee moves to Florida and all he gets is a damn tax break.

Poll shows him a bad fourth in Republican presidential polling there, behind Romney, Palin and Gingrich. Not too hot in Nevada either.

    February 5, 2012
I tend to think this is one of those bogus New York Times trend stories, but the feature writer still did dig up some people that revelations about Newt Gingrich's desire for an "open marriage" back in the days when he was boinking Callista while married to another has done wonders for those who think "polyamory" is hunkydory. /more/

    February 1, 2012
Poor Rick Santorum could only shrug in frustration when he complained in the Florida debate about the supreme irony of the 2012 presidential race: Republicans made President Obama vulnerable two years ago by demonizing his health-insurance reforms and now they are about to nominate one of two men who cannot effectively use the issue against him. /more/

Gingrich? Smart man (on some issues), but absolutely 0 skills as a politician, he'll never get elected. Remember how the mainstream press destroyed him 20 days after the 1994 elections. They aren't afraid of him anymore, so no more search and destroy campaign for him, that is aimed at Palin, the mainstream news media primary target to date, and will remain so. They cannot stand the thought of the first female president being a conservative Rep., hockey mom, that is actually still married to her husband, that is actually even physically attractive.

Mitt Romney, not too afraid of because he's a moderate, Huckabee will probably be back, just too early for this kind of thing. 2 years is an eternity in politics. And the mainstream news media isn't done destroying Palin yet. They are busy working on more scandals such as her daughter, which they are making out to be the biggest slut/hussy since the prostitute that brought down the NY governor. (While children remain off limits with Democratic candidates, not so for Republicans.)

Palin doesn't need so-called mainstream media to destroy her, she does a nice job of that herself just by being Sarin (cq) Palin. (Copyright, July 26, 2010, I think.)

Huckabee's a joke,
He's not real folk.
Romney's a bore.
Got any more?

I love how Palin has no experience as a former Governor, but that issue was ignored for Obumble who's previous resume was "community organizer," which apparently equated to all the experience in the world in his case. Apparently his community he organized in was a community that never encountered an oil leak, being that this administration had no clue on what to do to fix it. Wonder how bad Obumble will bumble on the next crises which is no doubt headed for us around the corner.

I'm not saying Palin is perfect, but at least she looks hot in heals.

Yeah...."looks hot in heals"......so wrong even down to the spelling error.

Mormon Mitt will never be President because the good Christian Republicans ain't gonna have a Mormon in the White House. It won't be Democrats who defeat Mitt in 2012.

The liberal news media told us early in 2008 that Mike Huckabee would be our next President. Once again those good Christian Republicans decided they didn't want no hick Baptist preacher in their White House. Democrats didn't do Huckabee in.......it was his own kind with his blood on their hands.

If elected Sarah Palin would quit after the first week. It took her 4 or 5 colleges to get a degree....she did get 1 didn't she? She might run in 2012 for the fun of the spotlight and a few more dump truck loads of cash, but if she can't stand the kitchen heat in Alaska....she's never make it in DC.

Newt is an idiot with skeletons that refuse to go into the closet. He's so 90s and remember he quit Congress....he's another quitter too. Truth is....the Republicans have no valid candidate to run in 2012. So better get used to President Obama....you're gonna have him for a long long time.

No, ActMax, we cannot stand the thought of the first female president being someone whose qualifications BEGIN and END with being a hockey mom, married and physically attractive.

Not to mention being one of the most willfully - and proudly- ignorant public figues in American history.

The Palin-hating meme is fascinating to watch. I'm no fan, and really don't care to see her in national office, but the sheer viciousness shown by liberals toward her just doesn't make sense to me. I've never seen such mean-spiritedness shown to any other Republican, even your supposed devil, Bush. Here you have a political wing that professes to encourage equality and empowerment of women, yet the moment a capable, good-looking woman emerges that espouses views not aligned with the "proper" leftist world view, she is eviscerated beyond belief. It sure says something, but probably more about the attackers than Mrs. Palin.

Well you also will call anyone with conservative views "ignorant" so by definition for you, the only "intelligent" choice for a presidential candidate will have to be a super lefty hyper lib like you, right?

"I've never seen such mean-spiritedness shown to any other Republican, even your supposed devil, Bush..."

Oh please...we don't dislike Palin anymore than we disliked Monkeyboy or any other 'ignorant' (ignorant...not stupid) right-wing politician who thinks we're as stupid as they act. Palin's sole qualifications for the presidency are that she's a Republican mother (Hillary/Pelosi's parenting evidently doesn't count), a religious-zealot who's demonstrated her religious fervor by birthing a less-than-perfect baby and that the bulk of the Republican Party thinks she's hot.

She quit college, she quit the governorship and she refuses to engage any media other than the extreme right's media...all the while gathering all the loot she can lay her 'hot' hands on (which, of course, is the one thing that makes her a real politician).

"I'm not saying Palin is perfect, but at least she looks hot in heals."

Obviously that's all that counts in right-wing land...and obviously y'all aren't use to many 'hot' women being interested in anything you have to say.

We have Hillary on one Whopper about ducking and dodging bullets.

So, if this is a 'Whose-Whopper-Is-Bigger' campaign, Palin takes the prize, hands down.

It's not just liberals anymore:

I love how being a former Governor is ignored and no qualification, but being a "community organizer" is gold.

This reminds me of the prostitutes that I try and help out that are being reformed. I help them on their resumes, but many of them don't have any legitimate job experience so we have to do a lot of padding. This is how it goes.

I ask them, have you ever had sex with more than 2 people at a time? They say "all the time" I say, then on the resume, we put down "Is a team player"

Have you ever gotten stiffed by a John, not paying? Answer "Yes all the time"

On the resume, "Is willing to do charity work"

Question: "Do you ever give BJs?" Answer: "All the time"

On the resume, "Is willing to get down on knees to get the job done."

Question: "Have you ever done experimental sex at the request of a John" Answer: "All the time"

On the resume: "Responds to orders well."

Not that there's anything wrong with that.

"A new poll of avid news watchers shows that Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has a much higher approval rating than the man she once campaigned against and now works for, President Barack Obama.
...
Clarus president Ron Faucheux said one reason for Clinton’s high poll numbers is her high approval among Republicans – numbers he said position her well to run for president again in the future, if she chooses. Clinton had 96 percent approval among Democrats, a healthy 57 percent approval among Republicans, and 65 percent approval among Independents. Obama was nearly as popular among Democrats – 93 percent – but his numbers among Republicans and Independents fell off dramatically, at 19 percent and 33 percent respectively.

By the way, the word "capable" in my post was chosen for a reason. While I don't believe Palin has the necessary skills, including intelligence, to be an effective national leader, there is no doubt she is hugely capable in her chosen profession, politics. It's hard to become a mayor, even in a small town, without a measure of capability. It's nearly impossible to become a governor without it. I'm not saying she is a great, or even a good leader, but to deny her skills at her profession is silly.

I will attempt to defend her to a degree on one of your points, zelda. The media has shown a "gotcha" attitude toward Palin since her selection by McCain. The Gibson and Couric interviews were prime examples. The JournoList exchanges also point to a coordinated attack on her by the mainstream media to portray her as a dumb bimbo. Why in the world would she grant interviews to a generally hostile media when she is raking in cash hand over fist?

I would think a smart Democratic strategy would be to get over Sarah, who will never be President anyway, and start thinking about realistic contenders. It's gonna be a heck of a show in a couple of years.

No, Petronious, all Palin had to do was be herself. People, not just so-called liberals, don't like her because she's just not very bright. There was no gotcha involved. "Willfully - and proudly- ignorant" sums it up. Beside the fact that Obama was a senator, we, the majority of the United States voting public, think he was the better person for the job. What the right can't get over is that we won. We beat you.

Huckabee is not a contender because he can't raise money. Even when he was all over the media and still mathematically very viable after all but McCain had folded he couldn't raise any money.

And Act, I don't think angry white guys will vote in any numbers for a woman, the fact that she is hot is a mark against her.

Guys are afraid of hot women, they are afraid of being turned down. They would vote her for Penthouse Pet but not pres.
