Election interest at LR City Hall

Posted by Max Brantley on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 3:18 PM

We checked yesterday on early interest in filing for seats on the Little Rock City Board and the mayor's election, also on the ballot this year. Filing opens Aug. 4, but several people have picked up petitions to gather the 50 signatures necessary to qualify: At last report:

Kevin Dedner and Robert Webb had picked up petitions for Erma Hendrix’s Ward 1 seat; Connie Hamzy for Ken Richardson’s Ward 2 seat; Gregory Hines for Michael Keck’s Ward 5 seat (Keck has said he’s not running), and James Withers has picked up petitions to run against Mayor Mark Stodola, who is expected to seek re-election.

James Wither is the “owner” of Magic Thoroughbreds, LLC….. his Linked page say he is currently enrolled at the University of Phoenix, Little Rock Campus (anybody know where that is at???)….. he is “PLANNING TO STUDY BUSINESS MANAGEMENT.” (his caps, not mine). His Linked page also say “I AM PRESENTLY RUNNING FOR THE LITTLE ROCK CITY BOARD OF DIRECTORS, WARD 1.” (again his caps, not mine).

Mark might not be the best Mayor, but he looks to be better than James.

Isn’t the University of Phoenix one of the for profit “schools’ that has a huge student loan default rate?
