Politics Missing in Senate action — big jobs

U.S. Sens. Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln today cheered Senate committee approval of Polk County Sheriff Mike Oglesby of Mena as U.S. marshal for the western district of Arkansas.

All well and good. But we're the better part of two years into President Obama's term. There are going to be fewer Democrats in the Senate next year. Arkansas does not yet have a U.S. attorney nominated by the president in either the eastern or western district of Arkansas. Three important federal district judgeships sit vacant, with a nomination made for only one of them — P.K. Holmes in Fort Smith.

Somebody better get a move on.

Uh, huh. As I posted (today) on another thread there's no more Republicons calling for an "Up or Down" vote. Instead they're into blocking all nominations possible plus doing a record number of filibusters.

Obviously Obama needs an gang of 14 to get his appointees thru like Bush got his...... Mark Pryor....where are you and your gangsters when Obama needs you?

Obama administration orders coverage of birth control pills

A big victory for women's health today. The Obama administration has ordered most employer health plans to provide coverage for contraception without co-pays, thus affording women the same insurance coverage for family planning that men are given for Viagra.
