Rick Crawford, then and now

Posted by Max Brantley on Thu, Jul 29, 2010 at 6:51 AM

The Democrat-Gazette reported this morning that deficit hawk Rick Crawford, the Republican candidate for 1st District Congress, declared personal bankruptcy in 1994 to dodge credit card and medical debts. (Of course he opposes health coverage help for the country's lame and impoverished, too.)

A piquant quote from candidate Crawford's website:

If businesses in America spent money the way the federal government does, they would be in bankruptcy. If people ran their personal finances the way Congress does, they would be in jail.

Or maybe running for Congress as a Republican.

Reminds me of that other financial conservative expert telling us all how inept government is with spending and borrowing and paying......you know, the guy who pens in the Dem/Gazette. Gitz.

It is a lot easier being a fiscal conservative once you discharge all of that pesky unsecured debt. Ask Bradley Gitz.
