I was kind of hoping there was something more interesting at the root of this Little Rock police report. Multiple thefts of Arkansas Democrat-Gazette vending boxes since April. 35 to 40 of them found dumped in Southwest Little Rock. A letters to the editor writer finally gone totally berserk over Gene Lyons?
Alas, no, says Police Lt. Terry Hastings. Apparently this was just a lot of lifting, transporting, jimmying and dumping boxes to get at the few dollars worth of coins inside. Police were tipped to a potential suspect, Hastings said, and prints found on the dumped boxes matched those of a suspect now under arrest.

Hmmm...if I go totally berserk over Bradley Gitz's column or Mike Masterson's...must remember to wear gloves...must remember to wear gloves....
Every little crook settles into a habit and methodically plies his trade. Thus police study the M. O. to eventually end the spree.
My brother ran and operated a coin vending machine company. They had the same problem with thieves running their fingers up inside a slot to where the money box was located and tripping some kind of lever to get to the coins.
His solution? He taped single edge razorblades in the way used by the thieves to run their fingers into the machines. Wasn't long until trails of blood were evident around the machines in the mornings. The police contacted local hospital, emergency rooms and got the culprits. That took care of the thieving problem
Today he would be sued by the thieves in all likelihood and damages awarded by a sympathetic jury to the thieves.
All I can say is "Don't pick this Cotton!"
As a Democrat, and a lawyer, I have to ask, do we really want someone…
Jegley is right. Even if the cops are wrong, you have to submit, and then…
