More controversy in the race for prosecuting attorney in the district based in Conway.

A circuit court order Thursday appointed a special prosecutor to handle the case of three hot checks allegedly written on a joint First Security Bank account in the names of J. Cody and Jana Hiland. A special prosecutor was sought because Hiland, a Republican, is challenging incumbent prosecutor Marcus Vaden in the November election. Hiland has had some past tax lien problems.
