Money's thicker than politics

Posted by Max Brantley on Mon, Sep 6, 2010 at 7:59 AM

Righthaven, the outfit with which Stephens Media and Walter Hussman newspapers have partnered to sue websites over unauthorized reprint of newspaper articles (including, notably, a poor little cat blogger) has finally sued Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle in Nevada over her use of articles from the Stephens-owned newspaper in Las Vegas. The group hadn't been so reluctant to sue Democrats, but the Stephens newspaper detests Harry Reid. Finallly, money — or shame — won out.

Does the Stephens' hatred for Reid match that for Sheffield Nelson?

Some of the websites are getting sued over content that was posted by users. It is unfortunate that they didn't spend a hundred bucks to register their site at the copyright office, it would have provided the website owners with a safe harbor, and they would have saved a fortune in legal bills and judgement costs.
