Righthaven, the outfit with which Stephens Media and Walter Hussman newspapers have partnered to sue websites over unauthorized reprint of newspaper articles (including, notably, a poor little cat blogger) has finally sued Republican Senate candidate Sharron Angle in Nevada over her use of articles from the Stephens-owned newspaper in Las Vegas. The group hadn't been so reluctant to sue Democrats, but the Stephens newspaper detests Harry Reid. Finallly, money — or shame — won out.

Some of the websites are getting sued over content that was posted by users. It is unfortunate that they didn't spend a hundred bucks to register their site at the copyright office, it would have provided the website owners with a safe harbor, and they would have saved a fortune in legal bills and judgement costs.
