Good grief! The Trinity kids are the defending Class 5A Texas state champions and all that, but I never dreamed they’d clobber Kiehi Frazier and the Saints by eight or nine touchdowns. In years past, Shiloh has shown little mercy to some its opponents, so what goes around eventually comes around, I reckon.
Wow, they got thoroughly embarrassed and it was televised? Poor Floyd Co.
Don't worry, the Berryville game is just two weeks away, followed by massive powerhouses Pea Ridge, Prairie Grove, Gentry and Gravette. Plenty of opportunities to mercilessly pound inferior competition.
Damn. Did some of Shiloh's players come back in body bags? They will really have to improve on their illegal recruiting before they take on the big boys again.
What an ass-kicking........
Indeed, the Lord works in mysterious ways. Just last week they were ranked numero
UNO in the USA among high school teams.
But, News 8 indicates the debil could have been at work here...bending the coaching rules.

Hey, who knew so many here are interested in high school football?
That being the case, allow me to tell you about my favorite Shiloh game. Twas the state championship game at WMS in LR in the Year of our Lord 2000. Shiloh Christian vs. Rison.
Shiloh was coached by the legendary Gus Malzahn who’d not been defeated in more than three years at the time of the game and was playing in his 4th consecutive championship game at Shiloh, the last two of which he’d won.
Clay Totty’s Rison Wildcats, meanwhile, had lost two games that year. Fordyce had mauled 'em, and one of the Camden high schools had also whipped 'em. So, nobody, and I do mean NOBODY gave the Wildcats a chance.
But, like they say, that’s why championship games are played. And in this particular game, Rison played Shiloh off its feet, and to my shock and everybody else’s, the game went into overtime.
Shiloh scored first, of course, and kicked the extra point. But Rison came right back and scored a TD. And then Clay Totty did the unthinkable --- he decided to go for two (sorta like Jack Crowe against ole Houston Dale in Oxford Saturday). And by golly, the Wildcats scored, pulling one of the biggest upsets in state high school history!
Just tickled the shiz outta me, y'all. Terrible thing, though, was tha the sainted wife and I were sitting with friends from Shiloh and had to act disappointed. But I laughed all the way home and still get a big ole Pulaski County chuckle every time I think about it.
Yeah, I know, some damned friend I am.
Gotta think that the paid "athletes" from NWA are not as good as the paid "athletes" from Texas. Ha!
Durango they won that game on a play they had not ran all year. Half back pass for two and the win. Clay Totty walks out on the field saying "I told them! I told them!"
Great game no doubt.
Time to Run, that play is frozen indelibly in my brain. Have replayed it a thousand times. It was a brilliant, gutsy call.
Shiloh deserves to reap what they sow, so it doesn't hurt me at all to see an opponent have no mercy.
On the other hand, don't forget this was a high school of 200 students playing one of 3000 students. Any other outcome would have been remarkable.
"Trinity" does not refer to the Holy one. Euless-"Trinity" represents the 3 cities of Hurst, Bedford, & Euless that comprise the school district where Euless-Trinity is located.
If I'm mistaken today's Shiloh game was the first HDTV telecast (cable, or OTA) of a HS team from Arkansas. The (s)aints got PWNED by the team from Texas. Just a week ago, this same bunch dismantled Watson Chapel in the Wildcats backyard of Pine Bluff.
This begs a question, does it seem HS football has really gone over the top with these games played in "JerryWorld" on national cable networks (FOX Sports Net/FS Southwest), much less a GOTW on a local station. I mean HS football was perhaps the last bastion of amateur football in this country but there seems to be the temptation for stealth recruiting with these private schools and all the attention by these armchair recruiting gurus that are a big part of sportstalk radio locally. The suburban HS's in AR are not far behind with their large fieldhouses and FieldTurf(tm) carpeted stadia.
I'm not old enough to remember the days when HS football outdrew the Razorbacks but there seems to be a trend again toward making HS games "big time" and more a part of the media landscape. Is all of this NFLization of HS football good and a health diversion, or just more Bread And Circuses to keep us distracted from our real issues
Good or bad, this game may give a peek of the future. Tiny Shiloh has a history of excellence, and excellence attracts talent. Lacking a fixed attendance zone it can attract students from a large area. (Not that magnet schools, Choice, and M to M transfers don't offer many public schools similar advantages). Many public schools have sought to have AAA ban private schools from all AAA competition (AAA governs athletics plus activities like choir, Quiz Bowl, and band)
It probably won't happen, but if it did, it would certainly open the door for the private schools like Shiloh and PA to join up with the Hoovers, Euless, SouthLake Carrolls to play high visibility televised games. College bound talent might choice to leave the public school AAA venue in order to take advantage of the all-star high profile regional league.
HS players flying to games..........it could happen.
.. oh yeah, the schools are supposed to be there for education...nevermind
It gives me no pleasure to see Shiloh fall, but Roland's karma comment raises an interesting question: were the Texans still flinging the ball downfield (or doing whatever they do best to score) after the lead was 30 points or more? I didn't see the game. I'm just curious.
Let's see, the score is 24 comments re a HS football game and 5 comments two days ago re Fayetteville shale gas drilling that's ruining some of The Natural State's underground water supplies, trashing many miles of asphalt roadways, polluting our air, etc.
It's good to know at least we liberals are concentrating on important issues. We know conservatives aren't.
I think were pretty close to that Mud. You're already seeing that in baseball. There are High School kids who are skipping Babe Ruth and American Legion ball to play for a regional travel team. In this community it's caused one of our ballparks to cut Babe Ruth from 3 to 2 years.
For what it's worth, the powers that be for Texas High School activities would consider it absurd for private schools to compete with public schools. In Texas, the private schools have their own organization and, to my knowledge, there's no crossover at all. It doesn't solve the recruiting problem, but it at least keeps it within the public school area where they can manage it more effectively.
And another possibility for the name of Trinity H.S. in Euless is the nearby Trinity River.
