How hard would it be for Sen. Blanche Lincoln to issue a simple declarative statement on discrimination against gays in the military and what she intends to do about it? She's slightly amended her earlier statement to us to reflect current events, but it's still lacking.
“I have consistently said that I support the Lieberman provision to repeal the federal Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell statute,” Lincoln said. “I believe that the President and military leaders should determine how repeal of this policy is implemented in a manner that is consistent with our nation’s military readiness and national security. I was also pleased to see that the Pentagon’s report found that repeal could be implemented with minimal impact. I continue to support proceeding to the National Defense Authorization Act so that amendments to the bill can be considered and so we can complete this legislation, which is of the utmost importance to our men and women in uniform who fight each day to defend the freedoms we cherish as Americans.”
