Didn't want to let this get away. Today in the House Public Health Committee, a bill by Rep. Loy Mauch, R-Bismarck, came up for discussion. Max noted the bill's failure earlier today. During discussion on the bill, Rep. Tracy Pennartz, D-Fort Smith, gave Mauch a pretty stern talking-to regarding the specifics of the bill. Some in attendance said it was a little harsh. You be the judge. Our own Brian Chilson was on hand to catch some video.

She's a representative from Secure Arkansas - didn't catch her name and unfortunately she wasn't wearing a name tag.
This whole damn hearing needed to be recorded. This is typical of sweeping T'bagger lies they slip into the collective regularly.
How dumbed down have we become?
I think that her response was entirely correct. I would like to see more legislators call out their fellow members when they lie or are obviously ignorant. That is better than the ovation they gave Fireball Holland (TP-Greenwood) last week after he "apologized" last week for his 100+mph on Hwy 10.
I thought Rep Pennartz was easy on Rep "Confederate" Mauch although she still handed his ass to him.
Of course the TinFoil Hatters will disagree, including the The Insecure Arkansas rep showing up with her outdated bleached 80's big hair.
Notice how lies became "untrue". It is time to quit trying to be tactful. A lie is a lie is a lie. If he didn't know and let someone else draft the document then he is a "tool" of other forces which is probably true.
The bill also says that the EPA had stopped enforcing drinking water standards in 1988 and that is also a lie. I would think that a "state's rights" person would want the major responsibility turned to the states FIRST but if you think they have given up, go and talk to the Texans who are being sued on failure to enforcen air and water regulation on their industry.
This calls for a you tube link to "Idiocracy"

Also a quote from a Balloon-Juice Commenter:
"The only reason I doubt evolution is because there’s still so many people who are dumber than a f**king box of rocks."
I don't think Pennartz was too harsh at all. When someone writes a bill and presents it to the state legislature with the intent to become law and effect the citizens of an entire state, they better damn well be telling the truth. I think Pennartz was too nice; she should have thrown his ass out of the committee hearing!
Also, too, Maddow apparently fell for a satirical web site yesterday. She corrected her mistake, but it is getting so bad that you can't parody these people!
Let's consider that this was the very first bill that newbie Representative Mauch has ever filed, presented, or defended before a legislative committee or either house. In the olden days, the overgrown schoolkids making up either house would vote a newbie's first bill down by a vote of 0-99 or something like that, just to let him know that he's not in Bismarck any more. Then they'd slap each other on the backs and bring the bill back up for passage a little later. I think Ms. Pennartz's line of questions taught him something that will stick with him for awhile.
I've known Loy for ten or eleven years, I guess... While politically he is as batsh_t crazy as the rest of those SecureArkansas knuckleheads, ol' Loy ain't as dumb as he often acts and way down deeper than the Columbian miners, there's a pretty good heart. I would not be surprised if after a few more lessons, he turns out to be a pretty good legislatorin a few months. Probably better than mine... In the last session there were potted plants in the Capitol that did more than my Representative did... not that that was a bad thing...
A foreign substance is introduced into our precious bodily fluids without the knowledge of the individual. Certainly without any choice. That's the way your hard-core Commie works.
That's true Psyclepath, almost every freshman legislator got a 0-99 on his first bill; that was before term limits made every second of time precious.
About Mauch, I know Loy too. And Goebbels was a devoted family man - no, I'm not comparing Mauch to him, I'm just saying that most people have some goodness in them at some remove from their public persona. Unfortunately for their memory, the public persona is all the public has to take his measure.
Rep. Tracy Pennartz, D-Fort Smith is the only proof that there are some people left in Fort Baptist with a functioning brain. Notice the D behind her name...a rarity on this side of the state to be sure.
The ability to add truthiness to bills has resulted in a barely functioning government in the US today. I would hope any elected official who accidentally or on purpose includes falsehoods in a bill be similarly smacked down in public.
Fantasy should never be a part of US government from the White House down to your local city council. It's hard enough to figure out how to govern without parking lies next to the truth. Hurray for Rep. Tracy Pennartz, D-Fort Smith!
