Ironic indeed in this heavily Christian state, because Ayn Rand's objectivism stands in direct opposition to the teachings of the Bible.

The only libertarian I will vote for is Ron Swanson.

Glenn Schwarz was on the ballot for mayor last time, did he run as Libertarian or Independent?

Lol. Now they can appear on the ballot and still not win.

So are these "real" libertarians or just evangelical-tea-party type "libertarians"?

If libertarians are going to hang a doorknocker on my door, I would like to put up a sign that says: "Attention Libertarians: If you don't leave, I will call the police. And YOUR tax dollars will pay for them to come."

Good for them. All are welcome in the democratic process. Actually, I hope this Libertarian uprising also takes place on a national level.

They will likely learn the lessons of Ross Perro and Ralph Nader, however. Splitting the vote leads to people you REALLY don't want in office. But so be it. Stick to your principles I say.

Will libertarians commit to opening liquor stores in Faulkner County? I can get behind that.

Perhaps this is the best thing to happen for the cause of real democracy in Arkansas in a long time.

I join some fella democracy believers and raise a glass for the Libertarians and I know that CYNICAL people like 50to49 will eventual join in.

Don't bogard that joint my friend...pass it over...I know they will get many youth votes when they introduce the standard Libertarian platform of decriminalizing weed and many other harmless substances.

Thanks for the link Gpus:

1.3 Personal Relationships

Sexual orientation, preference, gender, or gender identity should have no impact on the
government's treatment of individuals, such as in current marriage, child custody, adoption,
immigration or military service laws. Government does not have the authority to define, license or
restrict personal relationships. Consenting adults should be free to choose their own sexual practices
and personal relationships.

1.4 Abortion

Recognizing that abortion is a sensitive issue and that people can hold good-faith views on all sides, we believe that government should be kept out of the matter, leaving the question to each person for their conscientious consideration.

Libs are certainly welcome to start up the Socialist Democratic party to counter the tea party.

I'd suggest Pat Lynch as the Socialist Democratic party candidate for Little Rock mayor. Based on his column Monday in the ADG, he could run on the "Keep Ellen for the Little Rock zoo" platform.

The republicans seem to have spun off into crazy land so there is an opening/need for a second party.

Who would have thought Newt Gingrich would be drummed out of the Repugnant primary becasue he was uber-left of the Repug party.

If Libertarians ever hope to make inroads, now is a chance that comes maybe once per generation (or century) in US politics.

Yeah, a pro-choice pro-pot pro-gay marriage platform will sure draw conservative votes in Arkansas. They'll have to abandon those principles for the sake of politics.

EOD, they will vote because the know that Paul Rand is a "liberterian", whatever that means. Who ever reads the platform? The Tea Pot Heads will read this as a "no tax" party and a "no compromise" party and that makes me wonder why they are bothering to run, since it would be easier to become the town bully and it is the same thing. My way or the highway!

If you aren't willing to compromise, then don't go to Washington. There are too many blockheads there already but doing nothing or refusing to consider revenue increases as well as tax cuts means you don't give a damn about the deficit, just YOUR taxes!
