Obama's silence on guns

AP article notes President Obama's failure to do anything in the gun control arena despite calling for action in the aftermath of Gabby Giffords' shooting. He gains nothing by folding to the gun nuts. He will be scorned and abused by them regardless.
Improvement in the background check system, better coordination between the state and feds on criminal records and an end to the gun show loophole are just a few of the common-sense sorts of things that should be actively purused.
