From the outer reaches of wing nuttery (World Net Daily), comes a report on TV commercials that even Fox News won't broadcast. The ads, by a gold and silver dealer, employ cartoon characters of President Obama.
Here's a local angle: The narrator is Pat Boone. (I know; who knew he was still alive?) Boone will be performing at UCA Sunday, Dec. 11.

Did you watch the commercials on youtube? They're really quite funny.
However, it's right-wing populist scaremongering. In fact, all this gold and silver advertisting is really pretty terrible ... even the ones that make it on the air. I really hate to think of the people who are swayed by this sort of "appeal to value" and tying owning gold coins to a nostalgia for the way things were.
Having a pile of gold coins at your house is really a terrible idea. They can get stolen and if the SHTF it's really questionable how much utility they will provide. I'd rather just have a pile of guns, food, and water. Gold is also historically high so what happens when the economy finally settles down and the bottom falls out of that market? Alot of poor, angry people.
Oh, and the silver buying commericals are even more shameless. Silver is an industrial metal whose speculative value flies all over the place. You're not insulating anyone from risk buying that.
tl;dr these gold/silver commericals are terrible.
Silly ads but brilliant strategy. Make a couple of ads that we know no broadcaster will touch, get said broadcasters to publicly announce that, and then garner millions of views on youtube and other outlets, such as Arkansas Times Blog.
Old stoopid Pat made the news a couple months ago by asserting he knew for a fack Obama was born in Kenya.
Pat has always been good at freebies. He made a good living performing music for which the creators were paid little or nothing.
How much did Pat get for the Ozbourne TV show version of Crazy Train? And why did Ozzie ever allow that?

I don't see how the FOX BAR can get any lower than the low set by Glen Beck.
But, Beck gave me hope. Millions boycotting his advertisers finally had an impact
and even the amoral Alies had to let him go.
Making money from the R base of wackos has been practiced for several years, in fact, every since the Clinton economy put some money into wacko pockets. To this add a then new, fast internet coming along just in time to help with the fleecing. When things recover there will be more Bachmanns funded.
The bigger issue here, as Skype Pile It would want us to acknowledge, is WTF is Pat Boone doing at UCA? If public money is involved in any way, well that's worse than anything Lu Hardin did with the public weal. A related question..who would be buying tickets to see him sing, croon, or sell reclaimed gold dental work? Who booked him, and why is that person loose in the world?
Don't feel lonesome, Doc. The SOB new software will not keep me logged in either. . . . and SOB does not stand for swell ol' boy, in this case.
For the record, if I had to choose between up and down thumbs and requesting more comments for all comments over 25, I would have gone for the older software.
As the ARTimes Blog is experiencing, newer does not always mean better or even works as well and this new iteration doesn't.
Proves the adage that nothing is free, nothing is simple.
This whole mess stinks.
I couldn't agree more! But the flavor I love the most is Death by Chocolate!…
