Man shot at downtown ATM

Posted by Max Brantley on Tue, Dec 13, 2011 at 9:51 AM

Randy Gasper, 52, of Walnut Ridge told police he was shot in the calves by a man who tried to rob him at an Iberia Bank ATM at 2nd and Broadway about 6:30 p.m. Monday.

According to the police, Gasper said he'd tried to withdraw $100, but got no cash, just a receipt. He said when he walked toward a vehicle waiting in line for help, a man came toward him from the rear of the vehicle and demanded money. He said he had none. He said the man got mad and fired a shot that struck him in both legs. The gunman and Gasper then ran in opposite directions.
