I really hope the new company can do something with the mall in PIne Bluff. On my last visit there back in October, the entire east wing was blocked off with a temporary blue wall. Many of the empty store fronts are covered in posters in much the same way large football stadiums have covered seats to reduce seating capacity to make them look less "empty".
Like LinCo_Progressive, I haven't been to the mall in many months. When I was, most of the interior mall area, as opposed to Sears, Dillards and Penney's, and the food court area, was a ghost town, with more security personnel present than shoppers. Indeed, more security personnel were in evidence than stores open for business.
The area around Wal-Mart on the south end of PB is building up -- on flood prone land, but I guess that's neither here nor there -- but I'm not impressed with the business mix. A couple of miles north on Olive, Jefferson Square is enjoying something of a resurgence, athough again, I'm not impressed with the mix.
Truth be told, if I find I really must go to Wal-Mart (shudder), I head to Sheridan. Better yet, I stay home and save my money for a trip to LR or Benton/Bryant, and not for Wal-Mart either.
dbi--True, but sad. When I paid $190. for a year of the D-G, it hurt…
Proves the adage that nothing is free, nothing is simple.
This whole mess stinks.
