Go, Newt, go

Posted by Max Brantley on Mon, Jan 23, 2012 at 6:59 AM

Early polling indicates a tight race in Florida for the Republican presidential nomination. One poll, typically pro-Newt, shows him ahead. Public Policy Polling, which has had a good track record, is in the field for two days and reports that polling was about dead even on the first night.

This is delightful, of course. For Democrats.

Teabaggers and crotchety old white men (to repeat myself) love Newt. Nationally, his unfavorable ratings match those of George W. Bush in the deepest trough of his presidency.

Nate Silver says national tracking poll now puts Romney-Gingrich at 29-28.
