Rock 'n' roll Republicans

CHRISTIAN VALUES: Bill Pritchard sees lack in rock band.
  • CHRISTIAN VALUES: Bill Pritchard sees lack in rock band.
I think Sen. Bill Pritchard has made a mistake, though I say this from the context of somebody who doesn't vote in a Republican primary, much less a Northwest Arkansas Republican primary.

Says here that Pritchard is trying to make something of the fact that his primary opponent, state Rep. Jon Woods, plays in a band, A Good Fight. The Source blog quotes Pritchard as questioning whether a video in which Woods can be seen (now taken private on YouTube) is consistent with "Christian conservative values." Woods, a straight-edge (no drugs, alcohol or smokes) "evangelical Catholic," says he just likes to play "Whiskey Fore Breakfast," but it doesn't mean it reflects his values.

A GOOD FIGHT
  • A GOOD FIGHT

Hell, there are Christian metal bands these days. Who can decipher lyrics of a thrashing rock band anyway? You sound like a wizened old grouch shouting at kids to get off your lawn when you start sneering about ungodly music. Or Pat Boone.

Sorry we can't get to the bottom of the "obscene gesture" said to have been seen in the protected video. You'll just have to do with a sample of A Good Fight above.

Lindsey Millar featured Woods and his fellow punk rockers in 2008.

You can imagine what Pritchard will say if he beats Woods and his Democratic opponent, Diana Gonzales Worthen, brings out a mariachi band for a fund-raiser.

UPDATE: I have a bootleg of the secret video. I'll try to provide it. Meanwhile, the bird is the word, a freeze frame from the Rocklahoma vid:

UPDATE II: Woods' handlers have decided to release the video after all, a decision they should have made long ago. And they think it's unfair to show one of his grotty pals flipping the bird lest someone who doesn't know what Woods looks like think it's the legislator himself.

I'll betcha it will work. Youngsters don't have a very good voting turnout in Chickenopolis, old folks do and they don't like Woods' style of noise.

Woods' legislation stinks as bad as his so-called music.

He was probably throwing up a peace sign. That can get you excommunicated from the War Party.

"evangelical Catholic"

I thought it was 2 types of christians
Catholics and evangelicals.

Catholics baptize 2 weeks after birth, evangelicals wait till you are old enough to choose your dunkin'

Either way looks like my god can whup your god!

Senator Pritchard undoubtedly doesn't understand the inner complexities of "the devil's music." The music mostly uses only the I, IV, and V chords. This constant repetition just drives humans into a frenzy. I'm sure Senator Pritchard doesn't like losing control (if he had it in the first place). You know Sen. Pritchard wink, wink, there just might be subliminal messages floating around NW AR. It just might lead people who hear this music to: DANCE
Oh what a horrible thing for people to do, the agony of it all!!!!!

Rock n'Roll Christians are here to stay. It's been a great crowd draw through the years and helped me connect to so many people who are willing to stand in long lines just to hear the fabulous music. Even the elderly Fox viewers love the sound of R n' Roll when done by true Christians.

Rock n' Roll is not a Capital Offence anymore.

Didn't they try to do this to Elvis back in the day? And the Beatles and the Stones? (Not to mention the black artists where it all began?)

There are those, I guess, who live in the Past. Those who live in the Present. Those who live in Tomorrow.

And then your zombies, who fake Life and feed on the living.

It's pretty clear who won, all those years ago. But it's adorable how the zombies still don't get it and just zombie on.

Yo, folks, before you get your tightie whities in a twist, think about. Do the people we elect to office really reflect the citizens of our country?

I mean look at what demographics show about American presidents, Congress, and federal judges versus the American population during the history of our country. Look at those numbers in state and local government.

Heck, why not a representative who represents a fringe/minority group regardless of his taste in music or politics? Yeah, he's white and he's male. But he ain't your chamber of commerce feeder.

As a person who has seen his band perform several times, and met them all up here in Kansas city, I hope nothing but the best for this very talented and fine individual. That being said, I hope that politics doesn't corrupt him. Theres probably less of a chance of that happening if he just sticks to ROCK and ROLL. God bless him in whatever his endeavors are.

Looks like we got ourselves a good old fashion witch hunt here. Sign me up. Burn that fucker. How dare he express himself artistically. Point me to the nearest record store so I can buy up all their cds and burn that shit. HELL, I'm gonna start illegally downloaing the album as much as I can over and over. That way I'll hit him twice. ...Rock n Roll bastard son of satan.

Vote for Prichtard! We think the same things!!

Jon Woods is probably sitting back and thinking, "Thank you, Bill Pritchard, thank you."

Yup, that ole Pat Boone, he would never sing that 'Debil muzik', except, well, uh, yeah, he went to the Rark Side, sort of.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=z67IqrmygZY…

Pat, let James and Ozzy do their songs, please.

Your right, John, these nutjobs start whining about the evil music, and always manage to make it popular. I wouldn't have heard this song, nor of this band if it weren't for some prig like Pritchard. I hadn't heard of a band called Rush till some of my Mormon friends were trying to tell me how the album, 2112 was full of demonic influence. Being a rational person who wants to know the facts before making a decision, listened to 2112, then Caress of Steel, then I was hooked on Rush. Some of the best music I found was from the advise of my more fundamental friends. I can't thank them enough for introducing me to Rush, Yes, Hurt, AC/DC, Melissa Etheridge.

You would think that after all this time, the prigs would just STFU about the music they hate, instead of popularizing it by being vocal prigs. Oh well, Sturgeon's Law, most of humanity is, at best mediocre, at worst, blazing idiots.

You guys think covering Ozzy or Stairway To Heaven drove them into a tizzy? Hell, if they want evil demonic music, give Type O Negative a spin! The lead singer sounds like Lurch from the Adams Family.

Probably not safe for work or Baptists.

Don't know, Marc. Give them a dose of Otep and watch them go into apoplexy.
