Man drops to death from crane at SMU

A 14-hour standoff with police in Dallas ended early today when a man dangled briefly by both hands from a 150-foot construction crane and then dropped to his death. He'd said at one point he had a weapon, though no shots were fired. The perch gave the man a wide vantage point over a neighborhood near the home of former President George W. Bush.
