The New York Times reports that a growing contingent of vote-eligible Latinos is not registering and voting commensurate with potential. In the short run, that could hamper President Obama in some key states.

At least one Arkansas legislative race in the fall, for a state Senate seat around Springdale, has this element at work, as Democrat Diana Gonzales Worthen, a university administrator who hopes to harness that growing constituency along with residual Democrats in a challenge for a seat long held by Republicans.
