Police beat Fire reported at Ya Ya's

LINES LAID: Firefighters at work at Ya Ya's.

Multiple reports arriving by Twitter and e-mail of a fire in Ya Ya's Euro Bistro in the Promenade shopping center in Chenal Valley. Pat Lynch, who follows scanner traffic closely, reports hearing that the fire began in the kitchen. Lunch was interrupted.

Anybody out that way with a camera?

UPDATE: Channel 4, on the scene, says the fire is believed to have started around a vent. The restaurant apparently rolled out a new menu today.

Two shot at Verizon Arena this morning

Officers with North Little Rock police responded to a call about a shooting at Verizon Arena this morning around 11 a.m. and found two people shot.
Sources identify Steele Stephens as informant in Shoffner case

I hinted earlier that evidence was mounting that the securities salesman who provided confidential information to the FBI was Steele Stephens, the broker who began enjoying a huge share of Treasurer Martha Shoffner's bond business in 2010.

Debbie Rogers, chief deputy state treasurer, said Treasurer Martha Shoffner will not be at work today, but otherwise it was "business as usual" at the treasurer's office.

Before last Friday night, the saddest, most "depressing" Depression-era story I had read was Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" However, after watching The Arkansas Repertory Theatre's opening performance of William Inge's "A Loss of Roses," I can attest that this play is as rough and unflinching as that Depression-era tale, or any other.
