Police beat Herbicide threatens trees in Tontitown park

What the ....?

A suspected herbicide dump may kill a stand of 50 oaks, most 100 years old, in a Tontitown city park, according to this item on KATV.

The Harry Sbanotto Park where the trees were poisoned is a touted community feature.

FAA to delay airport tower closures

The FAA will delay closure of 149 airport towers, including in Fayetteville and Texarkana, until June 15, in part to resolve legal challenges and also give airports more time to adjust to the change.

Martha Shoffner resigns as Arkansas state treasurer

Martha Shoffner, facing federal prosecution in a kickback case, has resigned as Arkansas State treasurer.

Circuit Judge Wendell Griffen, injured in a bicycle accident last week near his home, sent me an update this morning from his iPad.

Before last Friday night, the saddest, most "depressing" Depression-era story I had read was Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"
