  • 'BUBBLE BURST': Hog coach John L. Smith took bath in real estate.
The Associated Press' Kurt Voight reports today on a catastrophic real estate investment portfolio that Razorback football coach John L. Smith brought with him to Arkansas from previous coaching stops. Smith says bankruptcy may be in the offing. Smith could use the $850,000 UA pay, at least quadruple what he earned at Weber State.

UA Athletic Director Jeff Long says he knew of Smith's unfortunate business deals. Some Razorback honchos in Northwest Arkansas have some familiarity, too, with subdivision deals going sour.
