Poll: Arkansas voters oppose severance tax, sales tax for roads

Posted by on Tue, Jul 24, 2012 at 8:47 AM

New polling from Talk Business/Hendrix College shows a sample of Arkansas voters opposed to raising the severance tax on natural gas to pay for a road program and raising the sales tax to pay for a road program.

Opposition to the severance tax, which seems unlikely to make the ballot, was 54-33 against. Opposition to a half-cent sales tax increase to pay for a bonded four-lane construction program was 49-42 against. The results were only marginally different from a March sounding.
