Presidential politics Hello from Charlotte

Charlotte DNC

The Arkansas delegation is arriving in Charlotte for this week's Democratic National Convention. I'm a delegate (my first time at a national convention) and will post here observations through the week as interesting things pop up and as time allows.

Off to the Arkansas Delegate Welcome Reception at the Daniel Stowe Botanical Garden in a few minutes.

Legislative power grab

While most of the headlines about the recently concluded Arkansas General Assembly have focused on expansion of access to health care, new limits on abortion and a flurry of tax cuts, perhaps the most dominant theme of the recently recessed legislative session was the legislature's efforts to limit the power of the executive and judicial branches of government in Arkansas and to expand its own power.

Pfeifer asks Dillard to allow bike trail

Gene Pfeifer, the bike enthusiast and developer who donated land he owned on the north side of the Arkansas River to the Arkansas River Trail, has asked the Dillard family to do the same.
