Retaking House hopeless for Democrats

Posted by on Thu, Sep 27, 2012 at 6:36 AM

Slate paints a bleak picture of chances of Democrats to regain a majority in the U.S. House.

One reason: Republican successes in state legislative races gave them control of the redistricting process in many states and a leg up on long-term dominance of the House as a result.

This is how bleak the picture is: Democrats still controlled the redistricting process in Arkansas and did all in their power to create Democratic-friendly congressional districts. Results: If Republicans don't sweep Arkansas this year — for a net one-seat Republican gain — it will be an Immaculate Election.
