Education Pulaski District union votes 'no confidence'

The Pulaski Association of Support Staff, which represents bus drivers and other support staff in the Pulaski County School District, has echoed the teachers' union in a vote authorizing its president to call for a job action if and when necessary and expressing "no confidence" in Gov. Mike Beebe, Superintendent Jerry Guess and state Education Commissioner Tom Kimbrell. Kimbrell has served as the district school board since the state took over the financially ailing district, which encircles Little Rock and North Little Rock.
A PASS news release said the vote was unanimous. It objects to the voiding of the group's contract with the School District, a move that has been challenged in court.
"We have been patient, but our patience is wearing thin," PASS President Emery Chesterfield said in a news release. "The burden of budget cuts has fallen on backs of our teachers and our support staff. The superintendent has no reduction in his $215,000 salary and benefits."
