The Arkansas Department of Education announced the winner of their annual Teacher of the Year award today. It goes to Alexia Weimer, a kindergarten teacher who has worked the past six years at Avondale Elementary in the Marion School District. The award was announced today during a visit by Gov. Mike Beebe to the school. Weimer will also receive a $15,000 check from the Walton Family Foundation, which sponsors the award.
