Crime Police report: Dad leaves 13-month-old alone to hit bar

Sad story of the day from Log Cabin Democrat:

Conway mom, at work Friday night, calls cops to says she suspected boyfriend had left their 13-month-old child at home alone. Baby found crying in crib alone. Dad found in bar in Little Rock River Market. He reportedly had done this before, when child was 7 months old.

'A Loss of Roses' a stunner

Before last Friday night, the saddest, most "depressing" Depression-era story I had read was Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?" However, after watching The Arkansas Repertory Theatre's opening performance of William Inge's "A Loss of Roses," I can attest that this play is as rough and unflinching as that Depression-era tale, or any other.
