AFTER ARREST: Commissioner Watkins
  • AFTER ARREST: Commissioner Watkins
Unconfirmed, but a reliable source reports that Game and Fish Commissioner Richard Watkins is telling friends he plans to resign from the commission this week. Watkins has been unavailable for comment since an arrest in Lonoke County for drunk and disorderly conduct involving a firearm.

UPDATE: You heard it here first. Gov. Mike Beebe's office confirmed later that Watkins had turned in his resignation today and reportedly also apologized for the episode, though his letter was more terse. Matt DeCample says Watkins hand-delivered the letter and made an apology to the governor when he did so.
