Police beat Simmons Bank in the Heights robbed

KLRT 16 reports that Simmons Bank at 1818 N. Taylor Street in the Heights was robbed this afternoon just after 1 p.m. Suspect is described as between 5'8" and 5'10", with shaggy hair and a beard, wearing a red t-shirt. Police say the man got away with an undisclosed amount of money.

'A Loss of Roses' a stunner

Before last Friday night, the saddest, most "depressing" Depression-era story I had read was Horace McCoy's "They Shoot Horses, Don't They?"
