The hotel will be taken over by the Marriott brand Thursday. The Peabody name will remain for the next 30 to 60 days, as will the ducks. After that, they'll retire and the hotel name will be changed.
Skidmore said the hotel will announce the new executive chef and general manager soon. New owner Fairwood Capital LLC, which bought the lease from the Peabody, plans to invest $16 million to remodel and upgrade the hotel.
