Arkansas Game and Fish Commission
got a new member today. Gov. Mike Beebe
appointed Andrew Parker,
a lawyer and director of governmental affairs (lobbyist) for the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce
, to succeed Ty Patterson. Patterson served for 16 months by Beebe appointment after Rick Watkins resigned from the commission.
Parker, 37, worked for three years for Beebe as a liaison to state agencies, including Game and Fish. Earlier, he'd worked for Beebe when he was attorney general. He's a Little Rock native.
It would appear that Beebe will complete his eight-year run as most governors have, without appointing a woman or a minority commissioner.
From Beebe release:
"Andrew is one of our bright, up-and-coming Arkansans who has a lifelong love for the outdoors, is an avid hunter, and a conservationist, as well. He will continue the tradition of insuring the preservation of our natural bounty," the Governor said.
