A Democratic House win confirmed for Camille Bennett

Campaign consultant Linda Napper tells me that absentee vote counting was completed in the race for House District 14 to succeed Democrat Walls McCrary. She says the count left Democrat Camille Bennett of Lonoke on top in the district that includes parts of Lonoke, Arkansas, Jefferson, Prairie and Pulaski Counties.

The secretary of state shows Bennett with an 88-vote edge over Republican Buddy Fisher of England, 4,250-4,162.

If that outcome isn't challenged, the Republican count in the 100-member House still stands at 64.

I haven't heard any final words on another close race, incumbent Democratic Rep. James Ratliff's 49-vote lead over Republican Blaine Davis.
