It will be the first Miller Mahony Dinner, named for former long-term legislators John Miller and Jodie Mahony. The event is aimed at building support for Democratic candidates in 2016. Democrats aren’t a threat to regain a majority in the House, but they have some hopes that candidates in targeted races could cut the Republicans’ current 63-36 advantage (the one independent, Nate Bell, is functionally a Republican, too).
