State Rep. Nate Bell, the former Republican from Mena, offered the Tweet above that seems as good a comment as any on Donald Trump’s apparent win of the Republican presidential nomination with his victory in Indiana and Ted Cruz’s departure from the race. That’s Arkansas Republican Chair Doyle Webb shaking Trump’s hand during an early appearance before a crowd in Arkansas at a time when most Republican establishment figures were backing Marco Rubio.

Captions welcome.

Two other things:

* BATHROOM HYSTERIA FAIL: Ted Cruz turned the Indiana primary into a referendum on allowing transgender people to use the bathroom facilities of the gender with which they identify. He got whomped, in a state that is mighty conservative on the Republican side. Trump again carried evangelicals, exit polls say. Something is happening on the Republican side — an unwillingness of primary voters to slavishly follow the dictates of Republican Party orthodoxy on litmus test issues — that is actually a little bit promising. If only it would translate to the Arkansas legislature once in a while. Or, maybe it has, with the GOP majority’s support of Obamacare for Arkansas residents.

* DEWEY DEFEATS TRUMAN: It is always fun to remember this quote from Huffington Post last July 17:

After watching and listening to Donald Trump since he announced his candidacy for president, we have decided we won’t report on Trump’s campaign as part of The Huffington Post’s political coverage. Instead, we will cover his campaign as part of our Entertainment section. Our reason is simple: Trump’s campaign is a sideshow. We won’t take the bait. If you are interested in what The Donald has to say, you’ll find it next to our stories on the Kardashians and The Bachelorette.
