Melinda Gwin, 49, of Hamburg has been sentenced to 21 months in federal prison and ordered to repay $210,875 stolen from the First National Bank of Crossett. She was sentenced in El Dorado federal court, according to a Justice Department news release.

Gwen had worked as a teller and then branch manager in Hamburg from 2009 through last August. The Justice Department said she had access to the vault and an audit that month turned up missing money. Later that day, according to the release, she admitted responsibility and resigned. Video surveillance indicated she would pretend to deposit funds in the vault, while picking up and concealing cash to take out. She said she’d been taking out money in $2,000 and $3,000 increments for five years while switching out ATM drawers and not entering the cash in the vault. She pleaded guilty in December.
