Here is the football Saturday open line, including this State Police report on the northbound chain-reaction at the Bobby Hopper Tunnel with heavy traffic heading to the game in Fayetteville on I -49:

PRELIMINARY INFORMATION FROM HOPPER TUNNEL CRASH SCENE . . .

2 PM, Saturday, September 3, 2016

Arkansas State Troopers remain at the scene of a multiple vehicle crash inside the Hopper Tunnel along Interstate 49 (northbound).

Initial reports from the crash scene were received by the Arkansas State Police at 11:40 AM today.

Although no official reports have been submitted by the troopers at the scene, possibly as many as ten vehicles were initially reported to be involved in what may prove to be several chain reaction rear-end collisions.

Injuries were reported to the responding troopers, however none have been confirmed to be serious.

For a short-time all traffic was stopped until 12:33 PM when one lane was cleared.

At 1:33 PM all lanes were open and traffic was moving.

No further advisories are expected until final reports are submitted by the investigating troopers.

  • Constituents go Cotton pickin' at Springdale town hall

Sen. Tom Cotton, cordial to a fault, appeared before a capacity crowd at the 2,200 seat Pat Walker Performing Arts Center at Springdale High tonight to a mixed chorus of clapping and boos. Other than polite applause when he introduced his mom and dad and a still moment as he led the crowd in a recitation of the Pledge of Allegiance — his night didn't get much better from there.
