Planned Parenthood beats another defunding order, in Utah

Posted By on Fri, Sep 9, 2016 at 10:06 AM

Yet another federal judge has stopped a state order aimed at preventing federal money from going to Planned Parenthood because state officials don't like that the agency provides abortions (though not with federal money).

In Utah, the governor tried to cut off cash for sex education and sexual transmitted disease programs. In Arkansas, Gov. Asa Hutchinson ordered a halt to Medicaid funding for Planned Parenthood because of his anti-abortion stance and as fallout from dishonest videos about a couple of Planned Parenthood affiliates' (not in Arkansas) use of fetal tissue for research.

Arkansas continues to fight to get the ban imposed. It would reduce general medical services to poor women.
