Shannon Hills Mayor Mike Kemp reports on his Facebook page that former Shannon Hills Police Chief Bobby Hale is believed to be the victim in a fatal fire last night at Hale's home on Charlotte Drive.

The cause of the fire remains under investigation. Hale was home alone. Authorities have not confirmed the identification yet, KTHV reports.

Shannon Hills is a small community in Saline County, near the southwest corner of Little Rock.

Correction: the original item failed to identify Hale as the former police chief.
