First off, a reopening. For those concerned that Starlite Diner in North Little Rock was gone for good, never fear. It's set to reopen sometime later this fall. Drove by yesterday and saw the sign up that they'll be accepting applications for positions there October 1st.
Several readers had contacted me asking about Igiibon Japanese Food House, concerned that it had closed. I had dinner there Friday night. It seemed pretty open to me. The confusion might be the result of the big FOR LEASE sign in the space next door.Close by, the signs are already up for what will become Little Rock's third Indian restaurant (and before I hear the arguments, Masala Grill is Pakistani). Taj Mahal is going into the Mexican restaurant slot behind the always-popular 1620.
And in Russellville, I noticed that the former Pizza Hut location along North Arkansas is now Joe's Pasta and Pizza. No idea yet if it's related to the Joe's I just ate at in Fort Smith, but I'm sure I'll be finding out soon.
Fort Smith Eats reports that Mojo's Ivory House in Fort Smith is reopening Friday night. Our eyes on the Western Wall also shares a photo of a new place going in called The Dog Shack which is apparently home to a Buffalo Chili Dog.I'll be talking about another reopening involving Fort Smith shortly.

I may have missed the announcement, but I noticed a Cactus Jack's sign on the old Hardee's restaurant on W. Markham in front of Office Depot. I don't drive down that stretch of road very often so I was surprised to see the sign. Any information about when it will open?
I used to work at Camp Robinson, and that sign has been on the front of Starlight for at least a year, maybe 2.
KAT: Is it? I was reader-tipped. Damn.
Yeah Kat I hate to tell you that sign was up last september for applications in October for the Starlite. I live in the neighborhood and have been following this drama since the place burned. I met the guy, Tim< who is doing the work at Starlite. At first he had some financial backers to help get it open fast, but they backed out. Tim is working his regular everyday job, and working on getting the place ready at night and on weekends. He has dona A LOT of work and it looks awesome inside. He is always just a couple weeks away from opening all this past year, but then something comes up and he has to back up and regroup.
Now with all that said. The Hay Chihauhau place next door which used to be Bill Fisher's, then the house of China, Then Chuck's Steak House, is set to open sometime in August as M & Ms cafe. It will feature a bar with live entertainment and Homecooking for lunch and dinner. Ive heard the Tim from Starlite is trying to hurry and get open around the same time. Soooooo We'll see.
Thanks,
KAT: I saw that and wondered about it. Keep me informed if you hear more. I have a friend who really wants to photograph the place.

Another local loss... It looks like Brownings Mexican Grill on Kavanaugh my have turned out their lights last night.
Igibon is definately still open, but new ownership. Sitting at the bar and visiting with Paul (the sushi chef) was my favorite thing about the place. New owner/sushi chef isn't quite as outgoing. Hopefully he'll come around. Part of the sale was keeping all the old sauces and recipes. Time will tell.
Actually, Leslie, Rocket Twenty-One didn't exactly "win the Breeder's Cup." She ran 13th out of…
