Big Mama's Burgers moving to Cantrell

Posted by David Koon on Fri, Jan 13, 2012 at 3:18 PM

Burger Mama's, the big-and-sloppy burger, fries and onion-rings joint that has been out at 10721 Kanis Road in West Little Rock for several years, is pulling up stakes and moving to a new location at 7710 Cantrell Road, near the intersection of Cantrell and Mississippi.

An employee we talked to said that the old location has been sold. The new Burger Mama's new digs will serve the same menu, and will be a sit-down restaurant. They hope to have the new location up and running by Tuesday of next week. Still to be seen: who will survive the inevitable clash between Burger Mama's and Arkansas Burger Company, the local fave just down the street.

My wife and I love Burger Mama's! However, she says Burger Mama's is the best in Little Rock. I tend to go with ABC. Then you have the newest incarnation of what used to be Th Hop right down the street!

It's a Burger Alley!

If you want to get technical, Cantrell Road IS Burger Alley. Start at the Rebsamen triangle with the olive-encrusted Town Pump Burger, the mustard-slapped Buffalo Grill burger and Red Door's Really Good Burger.

A block off in the Heights you can get a good drive-in style burger at Burge's, and a block further enjoy a nice lean Sushi Cafe burger with some tempura sweet potato fries.

Jump down the road to Arkansas Burger Company and have The Rock. Then hit Crazee's Cool Cafe for their Mushroom Swiss Burger, walk over and get a triple from Burger Mama's and try a Double Platinum from The Hop. Hit Purple Cow while you're at it.

Cruise a bit further and do the chain thing with Cheeburger Cheeburger and finish out way out west with a Skipper Burger from Thirst N Howl.

so good to see a slice of fresh, healthy pineapple on a standard plate of Ark fatfare.

The Eastern Flames folks moved to University and Kavanaugh in The Heights and became Seoul.

Who'll survive? If I had to guess I'd probably say the restaurant that is open on Monday's... to not be open one day of the work week (ala Arkansas Burger Co.) is dumb nowadays. Kudos to them for closing on Sunday, but c'mon.

Kat - if you're going to include those Heights establishments like Burge's and Sushi Cafe, then you MUST also include Cheers in the Heights. Their burger is extremely good. I'd rank my LR burgers as such: (1) Crazees, (2) Buffalo Grill, (3) Town Pump, (4) ABC (cap city burger), (5) Homer's, (6) Cheers in the Heights

Panic Fan, I heard it's moving to where Gina's used to be on Highway 10. However, I have not read that anywhere, so I'm not 100% sure. Saigon was located really close to I'm bummed they're aren't there any more.

I agree with you on the Cheers burger... I simply forgot to add it.

It's my understanding that Dunkin Donuts is going where Saigon was. It is also my understanding that Dunkin Donuts is going where Burger Mama's was.

Just sayin!
