Due to a few unforeseen events in my non-foodie life, I didn’t get around to this yesterday, and this week’s Food Feedback Friday is getting bumped to Saturday. Like always, the rules of the game remain the same, tell us where you’ve been eating this week and who’s been dishing out the best food in Arkansas of late. I imagine many of us are planning our Valentine’s Day dinners—which restaurants are you going to be visiting to woo your loved one? Or what food lover’s gifts might you be giving? I’ve been strongly suggesting that my wife head over to H.A.M to pick up some of their newly arrived Olive and Sinclair Chocolate Co. variety packs of artisanal chocolates and perhaps one of their fantastic Olli Salami. Leave us your feedback on what’s going on in your culinary scene currently.
We’ve been seeing some mixed reviews on the new Cantrell burger joint, Home Fresh Burgers. Our friend Sammy had this to say: “cheap prices, good chipotle mayo, pretty decent for the price,” while another commenter, LanierOrr, was not quite as please with his visit. While I generally echo the sentiments of my colleague, Michael Roberts, that this town feels fairly well saturated with burger joints as it is, I’m always happy to find a family friendly joint offering decent, affordable food. Last week on FFF, we got word that Route 66, the ‘50s throwback diner also on Cantrell has shut its doors, making way for a new Mexican joint, apparently named “Lupitas.” Because, ya’ know, you can’t eat burgers for every meal. I’ve frequently bemoaned the lack of decent kimchi in Little Rock, but I’ve heard reports of Southern Gourmasian doing Korean BBQ dishes with housemade kimchi. I’ve yet to sample, but it’s certainly on my to-do list in the near future.
