Tonight's the night for strolling down Central Avenue and taking in the art, and there's lots to see. Here's a rundown of what I know is going on at four galleries:'
The Artchurch Studio, 301 Whittington Ave., is showing new work by Katherine Strause. I don't know exactly what will be there, but on her website she's showing a lot of work having to do with the civil rights movement (see below).
Justus Fine Art , 827 Central Ave., is showing abstract paintings and prints by Tony Saladino, a Texan abstractionist. Also there, paintings by Robin Hazard-Bishop, Robert Frank and Elizabeth Borne.
Blue Moon Gallery's (718 Central) new show for September is raku pottery by Kelly Edwards, who teaches ceramics at the Arkansas Arts Center.
The Gallery@404B on Central Avenue is showing photographs by Kat Ryals and Thomas Petillo. Ryals is a SCAD grad who has been living in Little Rock but is en route to Nashville, according to her website. Petillo is a Nashville photographer (hmmm) who is also showing his work now in Fayetteville.
Quite a line-up. These and other galleries on and off Central Avenue will be open 5-9 p.m.
