The six winners of the 2012 Bernice Garden Sculpture Project were announced today: Mia Hall, whose work "Comfort" is a collection of pillows reinforced with welded rebar, threaded rods and three concrete footings; Bryan Winfred Massey Sr., whose work “Three Rings” is a tribute to Isamu Noguchi; David O’Brien, whose “Control Center 5” is inspired by the grain silo and the symbolism of abandoned environments; Tod “Switch” Swiecichowski, whose installation “Rebuilding the Dream” represents the rejuvenation and progress of the South Main community; Stephanie Shinabery’s sculpture, “Deeply Rooted”; and John M. Van Horn, whose “Companions: The Three Sisters” pays homage to heritage and pass-along gardening. All received scholarships to make their work.

The sculpture will be unveiled at the Bernice Garden Sculpture Party and Fall Fest, 5-8 p.m. Sept. 20 at the garden, 1401 S. Main St. Anita Davis is the owner of the sculpture garden and sponsor of the annual sculpture contest.
