Call for muralist: Pettaway needs you

The Pettaway neighborhood is searching for a muralist to design a community-inspired mural on the wall of the I-30 overpass at E. 17th St., near Rockefeller Elementary.

The neighborhood won a $1,000 Love Your Block Challenge Grant to hire the artist. The mural should convey the "history, love and light of the Pettaway Neighborhood," which is east of Main and south of I-630, the call for artists says. The mural will incorporate ceramics designed by schoolchildren in the neighborhood.

Here's a link to the application. Deadline to apply is Sept. 5; the mural is to be completed by Nov. 30. Here's a flyer about the contest.
