Construction on Levy's installation, inspired by Robert Smithson's "Spiral Jetty" in the Great Salt Lake in Utah, begins April 23. Levy's goal is to improve water quality in Lake Fayetteville with her 129-foot long floating wetland. Levy and stone-basket artist Celestre Roberge, whose "Chaise Gabion" is at Crystal Bridges Museum of American Art, will give a talk at 4:30 p.m. April 28 at Crystal Bridges.
Lewis' installation, which will include gazelles, impalas and springboks ("Herd") and butterflies ("Swarm"), will run May through June at the Walton Arts Center. "Swarm" will also appear in urban spaces around town and in surprise locations as part of the "Trail Mix Concert Tour."
