The Arkansas Arts Center is, as you can see in the photo above posted by Louise Palermo, curator of education, on her Facebook page, in the process of being yarn-bombed. It's an enormous project and it includes wrapping knitted work not just on the facade of the building but trees and light poles. Palermo said they've been working for days to get it up.

The yarn-bomb is a prelude to Fountain Fest, 5:30-8 p.m. Sept. 19, a fund-raiser for the AAC's Contemporaries auxiliary group, to help fund purchases of art for the Arts Center.

The event will take place around the Carrie Remmel Dickinson Fountain and will include an interactive art activity, music from the Funkanites, barbecue from Whole Hog Cafe, desserts from Cupcakes on Kavanaugh and beverages.

The Planning Commission decided the staff didn't know what it was talking about and voted 9-1 to approve the projects.
