Inuit art and crafts — including prints; drawings; basketry; carvings in stone, antler and whale bone; beadwork, wool appliques and Greenland tupilaks — are on exhibit in the J.W. Wiggins Native American Art Gallery in UALR's Sequoyah National Research Center.

"Art from Above the Actic Circle" runs through May 16 in the gallery, which features work drawn from the significant collection of indigenous art North American art amassed by retired professor Wiggins. The gallery is open 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday through Friday in Suite 500 in what was the University Plaza Shopping Center south of the main UALR campus.

Examples from the exhibition shown here are works by Kenojuak Ashevak, an Inuit woman born on Baffin Island who won numerous honors in Canada for her work, and Mattiusi Iyaituk, a policeman turned artist and head of the Inuit Art Foundation for 16 years.
